Lexiled News Resource

Teacher Tuesday:

Today we are sharing a link to high-interest news articles that allow for students to select a lexile level appropriate for them offered for free with no restrictions.  Smithsonian produces a free online publication that does just that.  They also include quizzes that go with the articles, lesson plans, instructional tools, and videos.  If students create a login they can also post comments and correspond with others in a moderated environment regarding an article.  News articles include information about current events, history, science, tech and culture.  Smithsonian also provides a page that is written in Spanish.  The name of this site is called TweenTribune and they write their news for kids, tweens, and teens who have a range of lexile levels.  To learn more go to tweentribune.com or check out one of their free sample lesson plans at https://www.tweentribune.com/teacher/lessonplans/design-female-lego-figurine/
